Different Types of Drywall Joint Compound

Many people do not even know that there are various types of joint compound and that can make it difficult to know which to use when you do not know much about it. Fortunately for you, I am going to show you here how to distinguish them.

Drying type joint compound known as drywall mud is usually offered premixed in boxes or buckets. This type of drywall compound is prepared to be use right out of the box. Sometimes it will need a little water to adjust with what you are going to do.

All Purpose Compound is the most commonly used because it can be used for all phases of drywall finishing including the texture.

Taping Compound it's a strong drywall compound that has extraordinarily slight shrinkage as it dries and resists cracks.

Topping Compound it's very easy to use, dries fast and sands soft.

To finish today's post here is a tip. Adding to much water to the drywall compound while mixing it can cause undesirable cracks, so it is best not to use too much water to avoid unwanted cracks that later on you will have to fix.
